What is Topaz Labs Sharpen AI?
I have an older Sony a6000 and its one of the first runs of the camera. It has some issues that you don’t see in the newer versions of the a6000. The camera has issues in low light causing blurry and noisy images. Blurry images can ruin the perfect photo and it can happen to anyone even on those professional full framed camera.
For most, blurry images are caused by camera shake, focus issues, or general softness. Topaz Labs created an intelligent piece of software that take care of those issues. The software has a separate module for each type of issue. Just pick a module and click a few buttons and adjust the sliders as needed.
This new update has added auto-detect masking tool to generate base masks. It can detect people, cars, planes, various animals. The software can detect 20 different types of subjects. You can find this feature by clicking the “Masking” brush button to the right of the file list then “Find Objects” in the left corner.

Topaz added an “auto-detect mode” capability which allows Sharpen AI to decide what the best processing mode is for your image. It will choose to process the image using Focus, Stabilize, or Sharpen. The model will deal with image blur at its root cause. This new features will allow users to take full advantage of Sharpen AI’s technology by requiring less user input to generate great results.
My Recommendations
I’ve been using Topaz Labs products along with Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop to edit all my images. They have ton of great products to choose from. For me, I mostly use Topaz Labs DeNoise AI and Topaz Labs Sharpen AI and I highly recommend trying out these products and see if they can work for you. Just make sure to check your computer’s specs and see if your computer can handle the software. The software is power hungry.
