Soundcore Space NC Bluetooth Over-the-Ear Headphones – The Review

Soundcore Space NC Bluetooth Over-the-Ear Headphones

About three months ago I won a pair of the Soundcore Space NC Bluetooth Over-the-Ear Headphones during one of Anker’s community promotions. This contest was a thank you for being an active member of their community and brand promotion. Since the headphones arrived I’ve been using these headphones for casual use, watching movies, walking, and weight lifting and so far have been impressed with them. As to testing them, its been an on going process and so far have tested sound quality, build quality, comfort levels, charge time, and how well they perform in different environments. Below is my my real world testing review.

First Impressions

Soundcore Space NC Bluetooth Over-the-Ear Headphones

The unboxing process was simple but elegant as all Anker products are. It comes in Anker standard blue and white box with the hard case to protect the headphones from damage. Everything is nicely packaged and protected from scratches and other types of damages.

After pulling the case from the box and opening it up I found the headphones and the case to be made well. The case is actually hard enough to protect the earphones from travel damage! The case also has some type of foam cutouts designed to store the headphones in a certain way. All of design features are designed to protect your headphones.

The headphones are light weight and foldable. The Soundcore Space NC Bluetooth Over-the-Ear Phones are designed to last. The building materials are a mix of metal and strong plastics. The ear cups are large enough to cover most users’ ears and are padded with simulated leather to help keep the user comfortable.

Testing

I’ve had these headphone for over four months and put them through a lot. My testing includes gym work outs, walking/hiking, yard work, tractor work, listening to music and movies. I also testing how long the ear phones stay charged and how long they take to charge. For testing, I used an old iPhone 4, LG G4 and a Samsung Galaxy Note 8.

Once I had finished inspecting the Soundcore Space NC Bluetooth Over-the-Ear Phones I paired the headphones to the my old LG G4. It connected on the first try. I then listen to variety of music from Spotify play list. I also watched a couple of movie trailers on YouTube. On first impressions the sound quality is impressive.

Charge and Run Time

Soundcore Space NC Bluetooth Over-the-Ear Headphones

The headphone phones come about 80% charged. I went ahead and through them on the charger and in less than hour they were completely charged and ready to use. I setup the headphones with noise cancellation and the volume around 80%. I found that I was averaging about 20 hours of operation and got about a 1 week out of them before I needed to charge them. I was using the headphone on average about 5 hours a day. When I was average about 1 an hour of use each day would get almost 2 weeks of use before I needed to charge them up.

To charge from 0% to 100% it takes about 2 hours to charge them up. Using a Anker wall charger and the supplied micro-USB cable. I tried use one of Anker’s premium Micro-USB cables and I didn’t notice much of difference in charge times.

I almost never let my earphones run out of power. I normally charge them up around 20% so that I can keep my headphones up and running when I need them. Between that 20% to 30% to 100% charge I found that the charge time was around an hour and a half.

Listening to Music and Watching Movies

Over the last few months I’ve listened to music averaging a few hours a day. I’ve listened to rap, rock, heavy metal, country, pop and electronic music and found that the music quality at this price point is impressive. The highs and mid range sound good. The bass is deep and loud. To be honest I’ve tried out more expensive brands and found these to be as good. For my needs these work perfectly.

I’ve seen several action movies using the  Soundcore Space NC Bluetooth Over-the-Ear Phones and the sound is perfect. I watched Deadpool and the Suicide Squad and the sound is almost as good as my speaker system.

Controls

Soundcore Space NC Bluetooth Over-the-Ear Headphones

The power button, AUX, noise cancellation, phone controls, and the Micro-USB port are on the sides near the ear pads. To control volume, stop/start, forward/rewind is touch control on the backside of the headphones. The buttons work great but the touch buttons get annoying. When working out or doing some activities might be bumped by my arms or hands. When this happens it may forward or pause whatever track is playing.

In the Gym

I’m usually at the gym anywhere from an hour to 2 hours depending if I’m just lifting or I’m doing a lift day and a cardio day on the same day. I found the headphones stay on my head when I lean over, when I am walking or doing some light jogging. After several month of use in the gym they still look good, sound good, and work perfectly.

Even in the sauna for 20 minutes after my workout they worked. But my ears do get hot from the extra material over my ears. But the leatherette ear cups never got wet.

As to the noise cancellation, it works great. When I have the sound turned up to 80% I can’t really hear the gym noise or the annoying music they have playing. The best part is that it blocks out distractions so I can concentrate on my workout and not the people around me.

Around Heavy Equipment and Riding Mowers

I spent some time around loud power tools, heavy equipment (did not operate), and riding mowers. I found that the headphones did a great job at blocking out a lot of the external sounds the mower makes and still listen to music at 80% volume and audio books at 90%. These are not replacements for noise cancellation ear protection for extremely noisy environments.

When I’m working out in the yard (light duty stuff), in the barn doing wood working projects you will find these on if I’m not hooked up to a portable speaker.

Final Thoughts

Soundcore Space NC Bluetooth Over-the-Ear Headphones

I have 3 pairs of over-the-ear headphones (Soundcore Space NC, Soundcore Vortex, and the TaoTronics Hybrid Active Noise Cancelling Headphones) and the Space NC are my favorites. The have a great fit. Its just tight enough they stay on my head and the ear cups cover my of my ears. The sound quality is perfect for my needs and I can wear them for hours. However, I feel like the foldable hinge will be its week point. So I no longer use these in the gym or out doing yard work. I use the Soundcore Space NC for leisure activities and use my TaoTronics at the gym or working in the yard.

In the $100 price point for over-the-ear headphones I recommend the Soundcore Space NC Headphones for everyday activities. Even with the hinges, and you are careful, these would make great for gym quality headphones. I wouldn’t use these for jogging, walking or hiking. They stay on my head but I find that these block so much noise that I can’t hear someone behind me. This could be dangerous and I can’t recommend them for activities that you need to be aware of your surroundings. But for everything else, I wouldn’t hesitate getting these. The headphones can be purchased from Soundcore.com or from Amazon.
