This weeks random image of the week is a picture I took of an old stone farm house north of Gainesville, Texas on a road trip I took to explore North Texas along the Red River.

The Old Stone Farm House North of Gainesville, Texas

this old stone farm house North of Gainesville, Texas

I came across this old stone farm house North of Gainesville, Texas back in August 2017 during a road trip to an area of Texas I wasn’t familiar with. After exploring the area, I found there’s a lot of areas to explore. I will have to return and do some exploring.

When I was driving out to photograph another location I came across this old house. At first I wasn’t sure it was abandoned. I realized this old house was not being used or at least no one was living in it. It could have been used for storage.

The house looks to be somewhat maintained but sadly when I looked at a recent Google Maps Roadside photo it can tell the house is a little more run down.

These old stone houses from this era are rare and even more rare in this area. Sadly this house won’t be around much longer if someone doesn’t fix it up and live it.

About the Image

The old stone farm house North of Gainesville, Texas was shot on a cloudy day in August using my Sony a6000 Camera and with a Sony E 55-210mm F4.5-6.3 Lens from the fence line. I then edited the image with Adobe Lightroom CC and Topaz Labs A.I. Clear and DXO NIK Collection to clean up the image, remove noise, and recover the lost details.
