Back in March of 2018 my photographer friend and I headed out to do some rural exploring road trip in North West Texas. Our plans were to explore along the highway and make a few stops along the way. We planned to stay out late and shoot several locations during the new moon. On our way to our secrete location we came across an abandoned farm house surrounded by Windmills near Chillicothe, Texas.
Abandoned Farm House Surrounded By Wind Generator Windmills – What an interesting find!
Whenever we are out exploring we keep our eyes for for old farm houses, buildings, farming equipment, and vehicles worth stopping for. Somewhere off the highway near Chillicothe, Texas far off in a hay field we saw an old abandoned farm house surrounded by recently installed wind generator windmills.
After a few minutes of driving around we found a way to the old farm house. That road was a lonely gravel road that is mostly used by the power company.
Before even getting out of the car we noticed that house would have been a great house to raise a family and work the land. We also noticed that there was another abandoned farm house sitting near by. It was a newer home but still very old. I’m not sure how we missed it. It wasn’t anything special and we wouldn’t have stopped if it was the only thing in that field. So maybe we ignored it and dismissed it when we first saw it.
This property is interesting and we would love to know the story behind it. Was this a one family property or was it several properties that eventually belonged to one family and the old houses were forgotten? Sadly we find that these houses have lost their stories.

The abandoned farm house was shot by hand in late in the afternoon with my Sony a6000 and the Sony 16-50mm f3.5-5.6 OSS Power Zoom Lens. We plan to go back and shoot the old farm house again.

Could it be the old Hendricks family farmhouses there was a large one and then not too far away there was a smaller 1. The Hendricks are my father’s family They used to raise cotton the farm.
Thanks for the information. I believe you are correct. There’s a smaller house out in the tall grass. Do you by chance have any more information about the houses?
