Windows 8 Launch Date

If you haven’t heard Microsoft finally set a Launch date for Windows 8! The Windows 8 launch date will be October 26th, 2012.  So ,if you are interested in testing/previewing the OS on your own systems, you have just a few months to do it.

Windows 8 Launch Period Discount

With the new release, they are offering  an upgrade of only $39.99 for those upgrading from an older version of Windows. If you buy a computer after June 2nd, you will be able to upgrade to Windows 8 Pro for $15.  If you would rather purchase a new copy of Windows 8 Pro and get a shiny new DVD from Microsoft, you can pick it up for $69.99 during the launch period. This great launch promotion will end  on January 31, 2013.

Final Thoughts on Windows 8

I have been watching videos, tutorials, and even Windows Hacks for a while now and I have to say I am impressed by what Windows 8 can do. I still prefer Linux and Mac over Windows 8 but, its getting better and I look forward to the launch date. Image Source: Flickr

I am about to set up a virtual box and install a copy of the preview on my system. I plan on running some tests and see how well it runs and get familiar with the new OS. Hopefully I will have a tutorial on how to install Windows 8 on a virtual machine in the next few weeks.
