Back in February I made trip back to farm to visit with family. During that trip I made the trip to visit a few historic sites and a few old bridges. One of the bridges I wanted to visit was the Old Gatesville Bridge in Copiah County, Mississippi. The Old Gatesville Bridge has been abandoned for 33 years and it shows the neglect.

With the new bridge sitting parallel to the bridge and the original road access removed, the bridge is in rough shape. Its rusty and crusty. And from what I can tell, one of the spans may be missing or the trees have grown up around it that its hidden from the new bridge. Other than those issues it looks like it will be around a while if the scrappers don’t mess with it.

About the Images

The images were shot on a gloomy and rainy day. Due to the low light and rain I had to do a lot of editing. I used my Sony a6000 and my Sony SELP18105G E PZ 18-105mm F4 G OSS with a Gobe UV Filter by hand. I then edited the images with Adobe Lightroom CC and Topaz Labs Denoise AI and Topaz Labs Sharpen AI and DXO NIK Collection to clean up the image, remove noise, and recover the lost details.
