The Kathy House in Keachi, Louisiana as its known currently by the locals has been owned by several families over the years. It was once known as the Fullilove House, and the Schular House. I’ve read somewhere that it was referred to as the Fullilove Schular Cathy House after each of the different family surnames of the families that put their mark on the house and town.

The Old Cathy House in Keachi, Louisiana was built by Frank E. Wood in 1857 as a four room dogtrot with a detached kitchen and dining area. Over the years the house was added on to and you can see those additions from pictures on the article at All Things Sabine. In 2013 the last owner passed away and was left to the Keachi Historical Society.

The above information is not confirmed or corrected on other website historic and ancestry websites. Several websites mentioned the information but the only website I remembered that I pulled information was All Things Sabine.

The Old Cathy House in Keachi, Louisiana

The house is not abandoned, the historic society doesn’t have the funds for extensive renovations. However, in the last few years the front exterior of the house was painted white and some issues on the interior was addressed. The grounds are cleaned up several times a year.

There looks to be what was an old carriage house in decent shape that sits off from, and couple of out buildings on the property that are old and rusty.

I plan on coming back and taking some more photos in the future and I’d love to get permission to photograph the exterior up closer, photograph the outbuildings, and the interior at some point.
