In general, Anker makes good products that are all safe, reliable, and cheaper than their name brand competitors. I normally put their products to the top of the research list when I need new charging accessories. When I saw the Anker PowerWave II Pad Wireless Charger was a new release product , I just had to get my  hands on one of these. This one will replace one of my slower no name brand pads that I picked up at a  big box electric store last year. Below is my experience with this charger.

Anker PowerWave II Pad Wireless Charger – Features

The Anker PowerWave II Pad Wireless Charger  pad is a lot smarter and quieter than my other Anker Wireless Pad. This pad can charge devices at 7.5W, 10W, and 15W. The charger will charge your device at the correct speed. Where as my Anker Wireless Charger, PowerWave 7.5 Pad with Internal Cooling Fan can only charge at 7.5w and 10w. Plus the fan is loud. Anker PowerWave II Pad Wireless Charger – The Review

Anker PowerWave II Pad Wireless Charger

The  Anker PowerWave II Pad Wireless Charger  pad is small, but its the average size of most small pad chargers. Its made of black plastic with rubber pads on the bottom. It has a small blue status light and doesn’t blind you at night! It uses a traditional wall charger with a average sized black plastic transformer attached to the plug. The power supply wire is on the short side. But manageable for outlet behind the bedside table and putting the pad on the table next to you.

Recently, I had to plug in a USB wall charger and cable into the same outlet. I found that the bulky transformer charger has a smaller profile than the USB Wall Charger. If the USB port pointed to the floor instead out into the room then the USB charger would be a smaller profile.

Charging

Charging my Samsung Note 8 with a UAR Monarch case takes almost 2.5 hours to charge from 20% to 100% and about 1.5 from 60% to 100%. Charging without the case takes the same amount of time. Even doing a 0% to 100% the charger or the phone did not get hot. The did get a little warm.

Final Thoughts

What I don’t like about this charger is the big ugly transformer that is attached the to wall plug. Its larger than other charging options on the market. I would have prefer the option to use Power Delivery (PD) USB-C and provide my own wall charger. I also find the smaller size pad to be an issue if I get in a hurry or not paying attention when placing the phone on the pad. I have the phone sit on the charger for hours and its dead or almost dead. But I’m pretty good at placing the phone on the charge and it connecting on the first try. Honestly I prefer cradle style wireless chargers. They are lot more forgiving when placing the phone to charge.

If you need a reliable, fast wireless charger, and prefer a small low profile wireless pad charger The  Anker PowerWave II Pad Wireless Charger  pad might be a good option for you.
