Review: Anker Powerline+ II Lightning Cable

I’ve been using Anker cables for years and when they released the Anker Powerline+ USB cables I had to get my hands on a set of them. When they originally released the Powerline+ I picked an Anker Powerline+ Micro USB and the Anker Powerline+ Lightning cable. I even got some lightning cables for my parents. All but 1 cable failed in three years of heavy use! The one cable that failed was because my mother’s cat got a hold of the cable and Anker replaced the cable since it was in warranty! Back in December of 2018 just few months after Anker released the Anker Powerline+ II I picked several to hand out has gifts for my parents. Today I wanted to share with you my mini review I did on the Anker Powerline+ II.

The Anker Powerline+ II series is an upgraded version of the original Powerline+. They’ve upgraded the braided nylon for an enhanced look, updated the connectors and the boots were also reinforced to add life to the cables. You now get 30,000 bends vs the Powerline+’s 10’000 bends. To help keep your cables looking good,  Anker has even upgraded the case to hard rubber shell case. O don’t forget they now over a lifetime warranty on their the Powerline+ II cables. The older ones still have the standard 18 month warranty. Anker Powerline+ II Lightning Cable – The Review

The Anker Powerline+ II Lightning Cable comes in an updated white and blue box with a viewing window that display the case and the cable ends. Anker does a great job at packaging their products and still limit the amount trash their packaging creates.

Once I pulled the case out of the box and opened it up I could instantly tell the differences. between the Anker Powerline+ II vs the Anker Powerline+ cables. The new cables and the case are nice. They look to be well made and should last for years.

As to charging I found they charge just as well as my old Powerline+ cables and my parents said the Anker cable charge faster than their OEM and generic cables they use.

So far these cables are still going strong and both my parents use their cables where they are constantly being bent or twisted around so they can fit in the USB port of their various chargers.

Recommendations

The Anker Powerline+ II Lightning Cable is a great cable and I highly recommend these cables and the other Anker Powerline+ II Cables. Should you upgrade from your Anker Powerline+ cables? My answer is no. The older cable is still a great cable and should be still used until that cable fails or is lost. You can even still find the Anker Powerline+ Cables on Amazon for a few dollars less than the Powerline+ II.

About a month ago Anker released the all new Anker Powerline III Lightning Cable which is another upgrade but as of this review the Anker Powerline III Lighting Cable is the only available Powerline III cable and the cable options for that one is also limited.

Where to Purchase the Anker Powerline+ II Cables

The Anker Powerline+ II Cables can be found on Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart and other big box electronics. In the retail stores you will only find limited options. I could only find the 6 ft cables in red and only Lightning Cables. However, if you need another option and you need it right away, you can still find the Powerline+ cables in the stores. You can find them in MIcro-USB, USB-C to USB-C for PD, and USB-C, and Lightning.

As to Anker Powerline+ II Cables  they come in 3ft lengths, 6ft lengths, and 10ft length. They can be purchased in Red, Black, Gold, and Grey. They are available in USB-C and Lightning Cable and various sizes and multi-packs. You can purchase Anker Powerline+ II cables on Anker.com and Amazon.
