Back in February 2o18 I was doing some exploring out past Mineral Wells, Texas when my road trip was cut short due to a freezing rain/ice storm with a little now passed through the area. Since the temperature that day was below freezing and the weather forecast said more freezing rain was on the way I decided to head back home.

I came across the 1961 Cadillac Sedan Sitting in a field as I was passing through Valley View, Texas. I missed my turned and ended up going down an alley near downtown. That’s when I noticed several cars sitting in the field abandoned and in the middle of being salvaged. But sitting front and center of the field was an old Cadillac De Ville Sitting there untouched.

I just had to stop and take a closer look. Before taking a closer look, I drove around to the front of the building that backed up to the field. I found it to be a hot rod shop. Since the place was closed, I drove back around to the field and took  some pictures of the old car.

At the time of this visit the car looked to be just parked there. It needs a little work but overall the car looked to be in great shape. It had some older custom rims on it and looks like someone may have done some work on it years ago. I don’t know what the story is on the old car. It could be someone’s next project or it could be parked their and waiting to be used for parts.

About the Image

The old 1961 Cadillac De Ville Sedan was shot by hand on a gloomy rainy day using my Sony a6000 and the Sony 16-50mm f3.5-5.6 OSS Power Zoom Lens. I used Topaz Labs A.I. Clear and DXO NIK Collection to clean up the image, remove noise, and recover the lost details.
