This week’s random image is of the First Christian Church in Whitesboro, Texas that I took back in 2020. This historic beautiful church was restored a few years ago and used as a wedding venue.

The church was built in 1906 and held services for years. Eventually, the building was sold and was forgotten. The church sat in disrepair for years. In 2013, renovation began that included a detailed restoration of its historic features. This included fixing the broken stained glass and repairs to the beautiful tin ceiling. The owners then added modern features and convenience so it could be used in a way the owners imagined it would be used.

Today the church is called the 1906 and its wedding and event venue. When I visited the church back in 2020 it had been listed as an event venue but was closed and up for sale. I haven’t been by to check and see what the deal is, but according to their website and social media sites they are available for events and they recently posted pictures from a wedding that was held there.

For more information about booking the church, check out the 1906 website.

About the Image

The picture was taken at about 5 PM in harsh sunlight. I used my Sony a6000 and my Sony SELP18105G E PZ 18-105mm F4 G OSS lens. The image was then edited with Adobe Lightroom CC, Topaz Labs Denoise AI and Topaz Labs Sharpen AIAurora HDR, and Luminar AI to clean up the image.
