This week’s random image is of the old farmhouse on the hill in Anna, Texas. This farm was located on a large heritage ranch and was well-taken care of up until its removal in the last year or so.

The Old Farmhouse on the Hill

The old farmhouse on the hill was one of my all-time favorites. According to the records the house was built in 1900 and survived 120 years with very few changes over the years. When I first found the house I was amazed to find the house sitting on the hill. I can imagine the owners surrounded by not nothing but open land for miles. Today the owners still have a large spread but the with urban sprawl approaching and rising property taxes in Collin County, Texas the land will eventually be broken up and sold off.

I haven’t had a chance to speak with the owners but a photographer told me that the interior is in incredible shape and the woodwork is impressive. Tons of architectural details.

To learn more about the house and see more images I’ve taken and some images from a friend of mine check out the article I wrote over at Vanishing Texas.

About the Image

The old farmhouse on the hill image was shot on a snowy day. I used my Sony a6000 and my Sony SELP18105G E PZ 18-105mm F4 G OSS lens. The image was then edited with Adobe Lightroom CC, Topaz Labs Denoise AI and Topaz Labs Sharpen AIAurora HDR, and Luminar AI to clean up the image.
