This week’s random image is another image revisit from a past trip. This image was actually in pretty bad shape unusable even for web use because of the amount of noise it had. What you are seeing is an unused rock gymnasium in Erath County, Texas.

Old Rock Gymnasium in Erath County, Texas – History

The Old Rock Gymnasium in Erath County can be found in what most would consider a Texas ghost town. There are few people living in the area but the town itself is gone. All that is left is this gym and the old school that was converted into a community center that has the look that it hasn’t been used in a while.

The gymnasium was built by the WPA project in 1939 the school was built a few years before. The school was closed in 1958 (converted into a community center) and I guess the gymnasium was closed around the same time. It was used for community events. I even found old decorations and the remains of an old, haunted house maze behind the stage.

About the Image

This image was taken back in 2017 and was taken in a dark room with very little light out and couldn’t be used. But after some editing, I was able to fix some of the issues in post. I used my Sony a6000. I then edited the images with Adobe Lightroom CC, Topaz Labs Denoise AI, AI, Topaz Labs Sharpen AI, Aurora HDR, and Luminar AI.
