This week’s random image is of the old Strawn House near Dorchester, Texas that I photographed a few months ago during a Grayson County, Texas rural explore of the Dorchester area.
The Old Strawn House Near Dorchester, Texas
Although the house sits abandoned, the property is still an active farm. You can see the modern farm equipment and outbuildings behind the house. If you happen to find this old house do not take a closer look. There are no trespassing signs everywhere.
At one time this old house was beautiful and would be the pride of any family that worked the land. Today, its in sad shape and in danger of the of collapse.
I was told this was the old Strawn House but they were not sure of who currently owns the property or how old the house is. At some point I will do a little research and see what I can find.

Wow that’s an old house
James, there are many Strawn’s in the area that could give you more info. I am familiar with Linda Sue Strawn Russell in Durango, CO. She is in her 80s and did live in Howe. Her parents were Ernest B Strawn (farmer d 1986) and Leona?? (d. 1984). I bet they lived in the house. Ernest’s parents definitely did. Names listed in Ernest’s obit. Best to you. Mary Heatley Buick in Sherman.
