A few years back I was reading an article on creepy places to visit in Mississippi and the Pine Grove Cemetery in Ashley, Mississippi was on the list. Since I’m always interest in creepy places to explore and photograph I naturally had to had the cemetery to my list to visit when I’m in the area.

I finally had the chance to visit the cemetery last summer. It isn’t creepy at all. Its so quiet its peaceful. For those that are used to big city living are use to noise and when they out to the country and its quiet, they think its strange. So maybe people this cemetery is so quiet its creepy.

During my research, I found nothing about the cemetery online. Only those original the area may know its history. But according to Find A Grave there are 41 documented graves with 15% still needing to be documented. With the earliest birth year in 1814 and a death date of 1866. The last to be born was a 1 month old baby girl who lived only a month. The last person to be buried there was in 1948,

My Visit

Pine Grove Cemetery in Ashley, Mississippi

I didn’t stay long but I found the cemetery to be in great shape. The grass cut, the fallen tree branches/pines were mostly cleared, and some placing flowers on graves. Many of the headstones were in great shape or have been replaced over the years.
