Today the Wildcat Thicket isn’t what it use to be. In the past, the area was so thick with trees, vines, thorns, and other vegetation that that area was said to be dark as night during the day. Today, much of the area has been cut up into small to large ranches and farms. But in some of the areas the thicket remains but cleaned up a little.

All that remains of this old 100+ abandoned farm house

Most of the old structures have been removed. One of the reasons for my revisit of the area was to photograph a 100+ year old abandoned farm house. Sadly it was demolished a few years ago and all that’s left is the chimney.

What I did find was handful of old wooden barns. Most of them are close to 100 years old and some newer ones that might be old barns covered with sheet metal. From the road many of these old buildings are empty or used for storage. Pretty much forgotten.

About the Images

The images were shot on a gloomy afternoon using my Sony a6000 and my Sony SELP18105G E PZ 18-105mm F4 G OSS with a K&F Concept Circular Polarizer by hand or using my SunPak 6700m Monopod. I then edited the images with Adobe Lightroom CC and Topaz Labs Denoise AI and Topaz Labs Sharpen AI and DXO NIK Collection to clean up the image, remove noise, and recover the lost details.
