Day 2 of the 5 Day Black and White Photo Challenge: Street Photography at the Invasion Car Show

One of my favorite things to do at the Invasion Car Show after shooting the cars is the street photography. What I love about the car show is its part of the Rockabilly scene. With that you will see guys dressed as the 1950s greaser and the women are rocking the pin-up girl look.

The day of the Invasion Car Show 2014 was one of the hotter days for the show. Since it was so hot my wife and I put going off to the show until later in the day. Although the cars were still there, many of the pin-up girls, Rockabilly guys, and the crowds in general had already left for the day. Next year, we are starting early.

About the Image

I took this shot with just a little luck on my side. I happened to be finishing up on shooting a car when I looked up and saw the street almost empty of people. Just one lone photographer getting low  to shoot one of the low riders, low riders and rats lining the road, with another low rider creeping toward us.

With the sun behind me, I quickly framed up my shot before the photographer and car could move. I used my Sony Nex-3N and a Sony SEL16F28 16mm f/2.8 prime lens. I then edited the image in Adobe Lightroom and post processed with Topaz Clarity to bring in more texture, detail, and play with the lighting. I then converted the color results to black and white using Topaz B&W.
