Just over a week ago Aukey sent me a handful of products to test and review. Today I have the first of those products and that is the Aukey USB-C to USB-C 6ft Braided Cable. Aukey USB-C to USB-C 6ft Braided Cable – The Review
The Aukey USB-C to USB-C 6ft Braided Cable comes in very simple box packaging. All that comes with it is a product card and a Aukey Key Sticker. To keep the cable from getting tangled up, Aukey uses a small hook & loop strap wrapped around the cable.
On first inspection, I found these cables to be thicker than your standard cable you might find in this price range and thicker than my OEM cables. These also have a reinforced boot for the USB-C connector. This should help keep the cables last longer and take more bends and twists than your average cable you might in the same price range.
Charge Test
Real life cable testing is a quick process. For me, I did several tests using my Samsung Galaxy Note 8 for the USB-C device and the used an Anker PowerPort Atom PD 1 30 watt wall charger and a Aukey USB-C 18 watt wall charger for testing.
Over the last week I’ve been alternating between chargers and different cables to see if I get different charge speeds. I found these cables to charge just as fast as more expensive cables and a lot faster than standard USB-A to USB-C cables. I found that instead of taking two hours to charge my phone from 20-30% to 100% it took about an hour and half to charge. These findings are the same as the Aukey USB-C to USB-C Braided Cable, and an Anker USB-C to USB-C Cable
Final Thoughts
Overall I like the Aukey USB-C to USB-C 6ft Braided Cable and for the less than $10 for a high quality premium 6ft USB-C to USB-C cable its a still. The only downside is this cable doesn’t come with a pouch. For me that isn’t a big deal. I can use one of my old cable pouches I no longer use.
I also found that each time I charged my phone my cables never got hot and all the ports fit tight enough that it didn’t fall out but wasn’t to tight that it was difficult to plug in.
I highly recommend the Aukey USB-C to USB-C 6ft Braided Cable. These cables cost about as much as a generic cable you might find at the gas station or value section at the store. But have the quality of a premium cable. If you have the time to wait for an Amazon order, I recommend getting one of these cables next time you need to replace your cables or if you are looking to move to power delivery charging. Make sure to get yourself a power delivery charger to take advantage of quick charging.
This review will be updated if over the next year these cables have an issue or fail completely. If you don’t see an update then the cable is still going strong
