2018 Freedom Celebration at First Baptist Blue Ridge, Texas

Every year on the 4th of July the United States celebrates its freedom. Every community does it different,ly but the one thing that many communities have in common is they put on a fireworks display. For some communities its a small show but for larger or well off communities, they put on a large fireworks display. Since moving to Blue Ridge, Texas we have had the chance to attend a community a celebration and sponsored mostly by churches in the community. The celebration is called the Freedom Celebration at First Baptist Church Blue Ridge, Texas. At the end of the celebration they put on a huge fireworks display. In honor of the 4th of July I wanted to share some long exposure shots I took of the fireworks.

The Freedom Celebration at First Baptist Church Blue Ridge, Texas is an annual event that usually happens the first weekend of July if the 4th of July doesn’t fall on a weekend.  It normally starts around 7:30 PM. The celebrations has food, games and crafts for the kids. Then just before the fireworks start volunteers handout sparklers.  The fireworks start about 9:30 or 10 and will last 30 minutes or longer. So get there early for good seats. The best part is that the event is completely free.

The event is hosted at First Baptist Church, Blue Ridge with the help of First United Methodist Church, Blue Ridge and few other smaller local churches. The churches provide this even tfree to the public and this is their major community event they do each year.

About the Images

The images were shot using my Sony a6000and the Sony 16-50mm f3.5-5.6 OSS Power Zoom Lens using a tripod and trigger to shot long exposure shots. All images were edited with Lightroom and the NIK Collection to correct exposure.
