Windmill Island Gardens is famous for its windmill but that’s not all the park is about. You can find a mini–Dutch organ built in 1928 and was a gift from the Netherlands, an antique carousel, replica structures, a miniaturized model of a historic Netherlands town showing what life was like in the 1840s, and course flowers. For today’s article, I want to share the summer flowers of Windmill Island Gardens. These are just a few of the flower beds. These were taken during our 2024 family vacation to Michigan.

I’ll keep this short so you can get to the flower gallery. A lot of the plants/flowers have plant tags or signs telling us what’s in the beds. But I didn’t have the time to get all the flower names I photographed, and I wanted to keep this visit more for pleasure than documenting. At some point, I’ll share my GoPro Videos as a walk-through.

The flowerbeds are impressive. I dream of having beds like these on our little piece of land in North Texas. These guys put a lot of work and maintenance into the park.

We made our visit during the early summer and the gardens had plenty to look at. You can find a variety of originals, native plants, and pollinator plantings.

About the Images

The images were shot on a gloomy rainy day using my Google Pixel 7 Pro. The images were edited on my iPad 10th Gen. I then used Luminar for iPad and Adobe Lightroom Mobile to clean up the images.
