The Abandoned Campbell Chapel in Grand Gulf, Mississippi – History and Current Condition

The Campbell Chapel is old but has been abandoned for decades. Just like the old abandoned store on the other side of town there isn’t much information about the church. I found references that the church congregation may still have a church in the area. I plan to update this article with more information and photos of the old church when I visit the Military Park and speak with a few contacts.

The Abandoned Campbell Chapel in Grand Gulf, Mississippi

The church has been abandoned for decades. I found pictures of the old church back in the 1980s and the church looked to be abandoned for years maybe even decades before that picture was taken.

The church building is being squished by the surrounding trees. If you look inside you can see where the walls on one side have separated at the back corner. I don’t see this church lasting much longer.

About the Images

The Abandoned Campbell Chapel in Grand Gulf, Mississippi

The image was shot by hand on a cloudy day but the sun did pop out as I took pictures of the church under the trees. I used my Sony a6000 and a Sony 16-50mm f3.5-5.6 OSS Power Zoom Lens for this shot. I then edited the images in Adobe Lightroom CC. I used Topaz Labs A.I. Clear and DXO NIK Collection to clean up the image, remove noise, and recover the lost details.
