Last week I showed you how to restore your recycle bin icon in Windows XP. This week I will show you how to restore your missing Recycle Bin icon or any Desktop Icons on a Windows 7 machine. In Windows 7, its easy to restore the Recycle Bin icon or add the Computer, User Folder, and Control Panel.

Click on Start >>> Control Panel >>> Appearance and Personalization >>> Personalization >>> Change Desktop Icons

Click the check boxes for each icon you want to restore or add. Once you have selected the icons, then click the apply button. You should see all of the selected icons appear on your desktop.

Can I Use This Tip to Restore Recycle Bin Icon in Windows Vista?

Yes, in most cases you can restore the Recycle Bin icon in Windows Vista with this method. However, this only works if the icon was accidently deleted. If the Recycle Bin was deleted by an uninstall program or removed by a nasty little virus, then you will have use Window’s FixIT tool.
