This week’s random image is of the old Keachi Baptist Church in keachi, Louisiana I took during our February 2023 Road Trip. The church sits across the street from the site of the Keachi Female College and the old school.
Keachi Baptist Church
Photographing Keachi Female College from the road is easy. You can pull into the driveway of the Baptist Church and walk along the road and take pictures from the easement. We pulled in there and my wife walked our dog on the church grounds and followed me around as I photographed the structures on the college grounds. I didn’t have much time to photograph the church so I took this quick shot. I plan on going back through town and photographing the buildings again. I’d love to get a closer look at the interior of this church and the other buildings in town.
I won’t go into much detail about the church since I wrote an article back in 2020. Here’s a short snippet from that article. “In 1852 land was donated for a house of worship. But the architectural evidence shows the church building may have been built between 1875 and 1890. The historical nomination has the church being built in 1880.” The Old Keachi Baptist Church
