This week’s random image is of Hills Grocery in Tom Beam, Texas. I took this image of the old mom and pop grocery on a mini road trip taking the backroads to Sherman. I just had to stop and take a couple quick pictures as I passed through town.
Hills Grocery in Tom Beam, Texas
Hills Grocery hasn’t been in business for years from what can tell. There isn’t much info on the property but from the front window you can see an old Dr Pepper sign or shelf. I can’t tell. The building looks to be in decent condition, and someone may be using it for storage.
There are several reasons why I stopped to photograph this old building but after thinking about it for a while, its mainly because I like the colors, they caught my eye and I just had to stop a take a quick picture.
Please Note: I originally posted about Hills Grocery on January 28th. 2022 to VanishingTexas.net and that article has another photo of the building and more of explanation for the stop. I will not be updating this article, but I will update the one over at Vanishing Texas as new information comes in. Please feel free to comment here or email me if you have any information about the old store and I will add it to my other article if needed.
About the Image
The image was shot on a late gloomy morning. I used my Sony a6000 and my Sony SELP18105G E PZ 18-105mm F4 G OSS lens. The image was then edited with Adobe Lightroom CC, Topaz Labs Denoise AI and Topaz Labs Sharpen AI and DXO NIK Collection
