Old Methodist Church in Robeline, Louisiana

Across the street and down the road a few 100 feet from the Robeline Lodge is the old Methodist Church. The Old Methodist Church in Robeline, Louisiana was built in 1883 and was active until 1984 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988 (according to sign on the side of the building).

The building has remained mostly original accept for the 1920 (estimated year) addition at the back of the building.

Alternations

A 1920 a rear lean-to addition was built containing three rooms. This necessitated cutting two doors in the rear of the nave. At that time a rear oculus above the altar was covered from the outside. At that time a rear oculus above the altar was covered from the outside. (It is visible on the interior.) A similar oculus remains intact in the front of the nave. Finally, an electric fan was inserted in the front wall of the nave. In our view, none of these changes has significantly affected the architectural statement embodied in the Robeline Church.” – National Register of Historic Places Application

If I get the chance to photograph the interior I will create another article with the history with more exterior/interior photos.

About the Image

The Old Methodist Church in Robeline, Louisiana was shot on a sunny day using my Sony a6000 and my Sony SELP18105G E PZ 18-105mm F4 G OSS with a Gobe UV Filter. I then edited the image with Adobe Lightroom CC and Topaz Labs Denoise AI and Topaz Labs Sharpen AI and DXO NIK Collection to clean up the images, remove noise, and recover the lost details.
