This week’s random image is of the Cottle Hotel in Paducah, Texas. I took the picture during a 2017 road trip through West Texas and the Panhandle.
Cottle Hotel in Paducah, Texas
The Cottle Hotel in Paducah, Texas was built in 1929 and opened in 1930. But the hotel was eventually closed. From what I was told by a local historian, its been abandoned for decades. She went on to say that there were several rumors as to the why it sits abandoned and forgotten. My contact did say that the family wants to restore the old building some day.
From the outside it looks like a boarded up old building that isn’t in all that bad of shape. But looking through the cracks in the boards and sections of open windows, its like any other building that been sitting empty and neglected for decades. It needs a lot of work to restore it.
About the Image
The image was shot by hand early afternoon on a sunny day. I used a Sony A6000 with a a Sony SEL16F28 16mm f/2.8 Wide-Angle Lens. The images wwas then edited using Adobe Lightroom to crop, straighten and clean up the image. I used Google NIK Collection (Now DXO NIK Collection) and Topaz Labs Clarity to help add detail, add contrast, and sharpen/remove noise. As always my images are for sale with or without the watermark in digital and prints. Please contact me via the contact page for more information.
