Abandoned Service Station in Cotton Center, Texas

Cotton Center, Texas

Cotton Center, Texas is one of those small rural towns that is just a sign on side of an old county road that may have a few houses or a couple of old buildings that may have been commercial at one time. But today, there’s nothing left.

Today, Cotton Center is an unincorporated community of a handful of modern and older homes about 4 miles north west of Gober, Texas. Its not even listed on Google Maps anymore.

Cotton Center was established in 1912 by George Willis when he built a cotton gin. According to Texas Historical Association, The settlement serviced the area throughout its history for area farmers. In 1966 it had a store and a Gin. But by 1990 the population was around 5 people and remained that way in 2000. Today, the area still has a small population. Its still mostly farm and ranch land.

Abandoned Service Station in Cotton Center, Texas

The Abandoned Service Station in Cotton Center, Texas has been abandoned for years, if not decades. Its still standing because its an old concrete block building and has newish metal roof. I wonder if this old service station was the store in town. This style of service station can be found before 1950 up through the 1970s. A lot of mom and pop service stations built them.

Please comment below if you know more about this town. There is almost no information about this town.
