This week’s random images is another one from the small town of Spanish Fort, Texas. This is one is the building next to the hunter’s store. I’m not really sure what it was used for but it has the look of an old service station. So I’m referring to this building as the old service station in Spanish Fort, Texas.

As mentioned above I’m not sure what this building was used for but it has the look of an early service station and with the old carport built right next to the building this could have been used to work on old cars. If anyone knows what this old building was and its business name was, I would love to add it to the article and eventually write an article for over at VanishingTexas.net

Like the Old Hutson Hunter’s Supply Store someone is taking care of the place and even done some minor repairs to it to keep it standing. When I visited the town a few years ago this building was full of stuff now it seems to be empty and the grounds around the building are maintained.

About the Image

I need to go back and re shoot the building. The picture isn’t as sharp as I would like.

The Old Service Station in Spanish Fort, Texas was shot on a cloudy sunny afternoon in August using my Sony a6000 Camera and with a Sony SEL16F28 16mm f/2.8 lens.  I then edited the image with Adobe Lightroom CC and Topaz Labs Denois AI and Topaz Labs Sharpen AI and DXO NIK Collection to clean up the image, remove noise, and recover the lost details.

    Neat

  2. Kathleen Hutson says

The carport was built by the owner of Hutson Hunters Supply Store Virgil Hutson and his son James. They actually had an old ConocoPhillips Gas pump located in front of the Hutson Hunters Supply Store. Virgil sold gas to the public but as far as a “service station” it was mostly work on personal family vehicles. The building next to the carport was a basic two room house, but my husband (Virgils grandson) is not aware of its actual intent or use.
