This week’s image is of an abandoned general store in Marysville, Texas that I stumbled across back in August 2017. During this road trip, explored north west of Gainsville on those lonely dusty back roads.

Abandoned General Store in Marysville, Texas

As I mentioned in my last random image article, Marysville, Texas is pretty much a ghost town with only a handful of residents and a church or two left in the area. When I first came into town I noticed several abandoned buildings and a house before I got to the active church.

One of the buildings looks like an old general store with its wooden front and double wood doors. Its all boarded up and I couldn’t get close enough to see more. Until I know more about it, I am calling it the Abandoned General store in Marysville, Texas.

Sadly, the tree next to it has damaged the front and roof of the building and I’m guess it won’t be here much longer and will be gone before I can get back out there and take another look.

If anyone knows more, I would love to add its history and document over at VanishingTexas.net. Please contact me or share your thoughts in the comments below.

About the Image

The Marysville Baptist Church in Marysville, Texas was shot on a bright sunny day in August using my Sony a6000 Camera and with a Sony SEL16F28 16mm f/2.8 lens.  I then edited the image with Adobe Lightroom CC and Topaz Labs A.I. Clear and DXO NIK Collection to clean up the image, remove noise, and recover the lost details.
