The Old Homochitto River Bridge Near McCall Creek, Mississippi – About the Image

This shot of the Old Homochitto River Bridge was taken as I was waiting for the perfect sunset shot of the bridge. But the sunset never really happened. I took this shot with my Samsung Galaxy Note 8 of my Sony a600 and Sony 16-50mm f3.5-5.6 OSS Power Zoom Lens using my trusty vintage tripod.

To get this shot I either had to hike through the woods or follow the river’s edge along the sand bar for about a mile. I ended up parking my Subaru Forester off the highway in the grass near the bridge and hike along the sand bar. I found that if you got to close to the river you might sink up to your knees in wet sand and the dry sand was difficult to walk in. Once I got to the bridge, I climbed up the embankment and setup. Between the railway being still active and wildlife messing around in the woods near by I decided to pack up just before dark. I do plan to go back and photograph the spot again in better light.
