This weekend’s random image is from a 2020 road trip out to Marysville, Texas Ito photograph an old church that was converted into a Freemason Lodge. I love the dirt road but would have preferred not have the wind generators in the background.
Dirt Road Therapy
For those that follow me on Instagram or even here, you know I love exploring back roads especially good dirt roads miles from civilization. I had a few hours of free time back in 2020 and decided to head to Marysville, Texas to reshoot some of the remaining buildings in that town. What I love about that old town is take about 30 minutes of dirt roads and gravel roads to get to the town. On a good day, most vehicles can make it to the main roads on a rainy day you might need a four-wheel drive or at least an SUV with some ground clearance to go down these back roads.
This particular dirt road was taken at a crossroads on rolling hills. When I came across this site, I had to pull over and grab a few shots.
About the Image
The images were shot on a bright sunny mid-afternoon using my Sony a6000 and my Sony SELP18105G E PZ 18-105mm F4 G OSS with a K&F Concept Circular Polarizer by hand. I then edited the images with Adobe Lightroom CC and Topaz Labs Denoise AI and Topaz Labs Sharpen AI and DXO NIK Collection to clean up the image, remove noise, and recover the lost details.
