This week’s random image is of an Abandoned Motel at a Travel Center near Hazlehurst, Mississippi. I came across these old rooms as I was driving out of the abandoned service station that’s nearby. From the looks of the building, it hasn’t been used in a while.
The Abandoned Motel Motel at a Travel Center
The Abandoned Motel looks like an afterthought for the property. It sits on the edge of the property and looks to be made from a portable building. It’s only 4 rooms but doesn’t look like it was ever a comfortable place to stay. I look at some Google Street View pictures of the building and they are a few years old and look creepy even on a bright sunny day. The same two doors are wide open. I’m curious about what it looks like in there, but not enough to stop and take a look. With the doors wide for so long, it’s probably trashed.
About the Image
It was pouring down rain when I pulled over to shoot the old Motel. I shot the image from the car and the results aren’t the best even after post-processing. You can see the rain as I captured the image. I used my Sony a6000 and my Sony SELP18105G E PZ 18-105mm F4 G OSS lens. The images were then edited with Adobe Lightroom CC, Topaz Labs Denoise AI and Topaz Labs Sharpen AI, Aurora HDR (no longer available but still a great product), and Luminiar Neo to clean up the images.
