Back in September 2018 I was passing through town on my way over to the check out the historical location of the Keachi Womans College and I passed by the old church and I had to stop to photograph the Keachi United Methodist Church. But those pictures never came out. I happened to be passing through town in February 2020 and was able to photography the exterior.

Keachi United Methodist Church – History

Keachi United Methodist Church

The Keachi United Methodist Church was built in 1879 and is a frame transitional Greek Revival Gothic Revival church. Its a clapboarded rectangular building with two front doors with matching interior aisles.

The only exterior changes are the loss of some of the original shutters and replacement step and hand rails.

The interior still has the original pews, pulpit and light fixtures. The church does not have central air, heat, or plumbing. But electricity was added and the altar rail is believed to be from the 20th century.

For more information about the church make sure to check the National Register of Historic Places Registration Application. It goes into detail about the design of the church.

As with the other churches in town, I haven’t found any history of the church and in the future I will looking into the churches history.

Keachi United Methodist Church – My Visit

Keachi United Methodist Church

I came into town to check out the old college and high school. But when I passed by the Keachi United Methodist Church I had to stop and take a few pictures. The church is in great shape. I didn’t have a lot of time and I had the dogs with me so I couldn’t spend a lot of time there. During my next visit I plan on taking a closer look at the church and see if I can get pictures of the inside.

About the Images

Keachi United Methodist Church

The images were shot on gloomy day using my Sony a6000 and my Sony SELP18105G E PZ 18-105mm F4 G OSS with a Gobe UV Filter using a monopod. I then edited the images with Adobe Lightroom CC and Topaz Labs Denoise AI and Topaz Labs Sharpen AI and DXO NIK Collection to clean up the images, remove noise, and recover the lost details.
