How to Add an Interactive Map to a WordPress Blog

As a landscape and rural photographer I’m always out exploring or traveling to find that perfect landscape shot. On those rare times that my wife and I get to travel I always photograph our stops. To create these photography trips I always use Google Maps and push pins to locations I want to visit. Call it a photography bucket list. As I travel, if I can make a stop at one of these locations I will check it off the list with a revisit required or do not return. Each time I look at my maps I tell myself that it would great if I could add a map to the website showing all the places I visited.  The current site is in desperate need of a redesign and I was thinking that I could add a map to it. I then start to research the differnet options on How to Add an Interactive Map to a WordPress Blog. The last time looked I couldn’t a solution that I liked. This article is perfect for me! I Have already purchased the Elegant Themes – Extra Theme and I am customizing it for two different sites. All I have to do is install the HTML5 Maps WordPress Plugin and follow the instructions to set it up. The article on Elegant Themes does a great job at setting up the article using the Divi Theme with the FREE & Adventurous Travel Blog Layout Pack for Divi. For those wanting a travel blog that with power of the Divi Theme this layout pack is the way to go.

If you want to add interactive maps to your website or if you want to add them to another photography/travel WordPress theme then just grab the HTML 5 Maps WordPress Plugin and follow the instructions. The Plugin page has a video that walks you through the process.

Please Note: The free maps are limited, you may have to purchase a map or have their development team build you a map to suit your needs. For my needs I will probably need one created.
