Back in mid-February my wife and I were able to take much needed week off to visit my family in Mississippi. During that trip, I planned out several stops along the way but most of those stops were canceled we so were so exhausted we choose to sleep in a few extra hours. I removed all of my Texas stops because they were too far out of the way except for one that was on the way to one of my planned Louisiana stopped stops. During this trip, we made multiple stops and location visits during our vacation and I decided to post each stop and visit into its own article. My first stop was Keachi, Louisiana.

Keachi, Louisiana

Keachi Female College (Not the Original Buildings)

Keachi, Louisiana is a small town in northeast DeSoto Parish and has a population of 300 people. The small town is known for its rich history and restored churches. abandoned school, and the location of the Keachi Female College. I’ve done articles on all the churches, most of the buildings in town, Keachi Female College, and an abandoned school, and written an article on the town’s cemetery where Union and Confederate soldiers are buried.

At some point, I will write up an article about the town once I get more locations documented. For now, you can check out a quick history on Discover DeSoto Parish.

I mainly came to get better photos of Keachi Female College and the abandoned school. Possibly get permission to get a closer look at the buildings on the property. But no one was around.

Early Spring Flowers Popping Up in February

Spring flowers are coming early this year so I took a shot of the flowers with the school in the background. If we arrived a few weeks later even more of the flowers would have popped.
