Our next stop on our February 2023 Road Trip was a quick stop at the Dr. Wimbyrly Office Building in Campti, Louisiana for a quick scouting of the location and to take a few photographs of the building.
Dr. Wimbyrly Office Building – History
I did a quick online search for Dr. WImbyrly and the office building and I can’t much. A few online posts on Abandoned Louisiana Facebook Group. Several posts had a combined comment count of over 100. I found people visiting the office from all over the county to get dental work done. Many of those comments were from people that visited the doctor as children in the 1960s. Then a few people mentioned that they went to the office in the 1970s, 1980s, and early 1990s.
One person said they came in with severe tooth pain back in the 1960s or 1970s and need a tooth pulled. The doctor met him at the door, spoke with him about the issue, and within just a few minutes he had the tooth pulled, stitched up, and the wound packed. All without anything to numb the pain. The patient was in and out of the off for about 5 minutes!
I plan on going back during my next road trip back to Mississippi and spending a little more time taking pictures of the building and possibly getting a closer look.
