During my last visit to Mississippi I was giving a lead on an old 1990s Toyota Pickup 4×4 that was in good shape, just been sitting for years. It was about 40 minutes from the farm and decided to use that as an excuse to explore that direction of Mississippi. I haven’t been out that direction in years and was curious to see what was out there. After I finished up looking at the truck, I headed to my first location, the old Bahala Creek Bridge in Lawrence County, Mississippi.
Bahala Creek Bridge in Lawrence County Mississippi
The Bahala Creek Bridge in Lawrence County Mississippi was built in 1909 and is a Pratt through truss bridge. The bridge was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 16, 1988.
Today it sits abandoned and bypassed by a new bridge. Its in rough shape. I wasn’t able to get to close and there were locals were having a party down on the creek bed under the bridge. I didn’t want to disturb them. I have several locations to visit my next visit to Mississippi I plan on trying to get a closer look.
What I could tell is the wood decking is rotten and has grass and brush growing from them. It won’t be long before the wood decking is completely lost.
About the Images
The images were shot mid day on a sunny day. I used my Sony a6000 using my Sony SELP18105G E PZ 18-105mm F4 G OSS lens. The images were then edited with Adobe Lightroom CC and Topaz Labs A.I. Clear and DXO NIK Collection to clean up the images, remove noise, and recover the lost details.
