Through out the year Hot Springs Offroad Park puts on a rock crawling event and one of those events is the Fire & Ice Jeep Run. This event runs every year the weekend before New Years through New Years day. This year, I had the chance to ride with a guys from Southern Mississippi Rock Crawlers Facebook Group. This article will show case some of pictures from the 2019 Fire & Ice Jeep Run at Hot Springs with follow up articles with more pictures.
Fire & Ice Jeep Run at Hot Springs ORV Park
Why is it called Fire & Ice? Its the south, and that means the temps can either be hot or cold. Each year its different. This year it was raining, hazy, and in the 60s. In past years its been in the 70s or its freezing and snowing.
2019 Fire & Ice Jeep Run at Hot Springs ORV Park
My brother finally got is Jeep up and running after the v8 engine swap and hasn’t been to the park in over a year and he wanted this trip to be shake down run. So the plan was for us to meet up in Hot Springs on December 27th 2019 and meet up with some his friends Southern Mississippi Rock Crawler Facebook Group. Unfortunately, his shift linkage somehow got wrapped up in the drive shaft and pulled it apart. Sadly a mail order only part that cost less than a dollar failed and couldn’t be replaced easily. So we ended up riding with someone Friday afternoon and I road with another guy on Saturday.
For this trip, I planed to only stay Friday and Saturday and drive back to Dallas on Sunday unless someone in the group wanted me to ride with them and take pictures. But with the bad weather and being warn out I went home on Sunday when most of the group left.
Even with the weather, it was a great turn out for the club. From what I could tell, at least 25 jeeps showed up and I think maybe 3 or 4 Jeeps were damaged enough to be shut down for the trip.
About the Images
The images were shot over two days in low light with rain and haze. Because of the bad weather a lot of edits were needed. I used my Sony a6000 and my Sony SELP18105G E PZ 18-105mm F4 G OSS without a flash or with a Pixel On Camera LED Light. I then edited the images with Adobe Lightroom CC and Topaz Labs Denoise AI and Topaz Labs Sharpen AI and DXO NIK Collection to clean up the image, remove noise, and recover the lost details.
