Every few years the farmers in Texas grow Sunflowers instead of their regular crops of corn, cotton, and hay. When this happens people come from miles to take photos of the sunflowers and do their family photos. I had a lead on some fields south Dallas but I didn’t really want to drive a couple of hours for a 30 or 40 minute landscape shoot. But when I heard that were 100s of Acres of Sunflowers in Whitewright, Texas I had to stop by and take some photos.
100s of Acres of Sunflowers in Whitewright, Texas
I made several trips to the fields but the best shots were mid morning as storms were passing through the area. It was a windy day and low light and I had to spend a lot of time editing the images. The sunflowers were starting to welt and soon be ready to dry out for harvesting. Because of the welting flowers I had to hunt for the perfect spots.
About Images
The images were shot mid morning when the wind was blowing and the storm coming in. . For some issues I was able to fix in post but others I was not able to. I used Sony a6000 using my Sony SELP18105G E PZ 18-105mm F4 G OSS with my new K&F Concept SA254T1 Camera Tripod. The images were then edited with Adobe Lightroom CC and Topaz Labs A.I. Clear and DXO NIK Collection to clean up the images, remove noise, and recover the lost details.
