Down the road a few miles from the Vaughn Creek Bridge sits the abandoned Rosemary Road Bridge in Hinds County, Mississippi. The bridge spans the Pearl River but years ago the approach on each side was removed.

Rosemary Road Bridge

According to BridgeHunter.com the bridge was built in 1950 and is a Through truss bridge that is 156 feet long and 15 feet wide. The bridge is just wide enough for one vehicle to use it. But it looks like an older design and according to one commenter that’s from the area and says the bridge is much older than that.

From what I could find the bridge has been closed to vehicle traffic since 2009. Officials closed the bridge to vehicle traffic by adding barricades and large piles of dirt to block vehicle access. But they left it open for foot traffic. Then the approaches were removed in 2010.

The bridge is considered to be totally inaccessible and hasn’t had anyone on it since 2010. But my guess is someone over the years figured out a way to get up on it.

The Rosemary Road Bridge Current Condition

Rosemary Road Bridge

The bridge sits at the end of the line. On one side of the road is dense woods and on the other side are riverside houses. Recently the area around the bridge has become a dumping ground. Someone even abandoned an old truck. A local told me someone parked it there and wouldn’t start. They just left it and never came back. Its been there over a year.

I couldn’t get a very good shot and may come back in the winter winter the leaves drop and foliage dies back. I had to wonder around in the woods to find a good shot of the bridge.

The bridge looks to be in good shape for something that’s been ignored for a decade. I guess when there’s no easy way to get to bridge it can’t be vandalized and scrapped.

About the Images

Rosemary Road Bridge

The images were shot late afternoon as the wind was blowing and the storm coming in. I had some issues get the trees to stay in focus.  I was able to fix in post but others I was not able to. I used Sony a6000 using my Sony SELP18105G E PZ 18-105mm F4 G OSS with my new K&F Concept SA254T1 Camera Tripod. The images were then edited with Adobe Lightroom CC and Topaz Labs A.I. Clear  and DXO NIK Collection to clean up the images, remove noise, and recover the lost details.
