TaoTronics SoundLiberty 53 Wireless Earbuds– Review
About a week ago TaoTronics sent me a sample of the TaoTronics SoundLibery 53 Wireless Earbuds to test and review.
My review will include first impressions, charging, how long the ear buds how a charge, talking on the phone, taking calls, listening to music, and listening music in different environments.
First Impressions
The TaoTronics SoundLiberty 53 Wireless Earbud comes in a nice box with the wireless ear bud charging case displayed in a protective bag.The rest of the includes are in the box or in a smaller box. Sadly one set of earbud pads were missing and those were the pads I needed.
Once I pulled the earbud case out and I found the case to be made well. The only issue that may come up is the lid isn’t as sturdy as some of the brands I’ve looked at. The hinges may break and the lid may crack.
The earbuds look good and are light weight. The default ear pads are a little large and hurt my ears. Because of the missing pads, I tried the smaller pads and found them to be way to small. To solve this issue I pulled a pair of ear pads from another pair of earbuds that fit correctly in my ears.
Charging and How Long the Earbuds Holds its Charge
The earbuds case and earbuds case came about 80 percent charged and only took a few minutes to complete charge. I believe it was less than hour (I forgot to set the timer). After charging I used it all day.Whenever I wasn’t in the car, I had the earbuds in and listening to music or audio books. When I couldn’t use the earbuds they were in the case. The longest I used it was about 2 hours.
I found that I used it maybe 10 hours and I still haven’t used up the power in the earbuds and the case is about 75% charged.
I will be doing some traveling and I will run some charge tests to see how well they work.
Taking Calls
So far I found using the earbuds to talk on the phone isn’t that good. Everyone complains that its crackles and its hard to hear me. I think some of it is my beard gets in the way of the mic. This is disappointing and I was looking forward to using these earbuds to talk with people.
Listening Music and Other Audio
I tested the sound quality of the TaoTronics SoundLiberty 53 Wireless Earbuds from almost every genera and I have to say I am impressed. Everything sounds good. The base could be better but still sounds good for most of the music I listen to.
So far I haven’t had any issues with audio not being in sync But I haven’t had the chance to watch a movie with the earbuds. While on my trip I will test the earbuds while watching a movie.
Using the TaoTronics SoundLiberty 53 Wireless Earbuds in the Gym and Other Environments
At the gym I generally use my Soundcre Space NC or my TaoTronics TT-BH046 Hybrid Active Noise Cancelling Headphones. Then there are times I don’t want the extra weight of these heavy earphones or I need to hear my surroundings During these times, I use my Soundcore Spirit X earbuds. So I thought the true wireless earbuds might be a good option for me as well.
I’ve used the earbuds in the gym for about two hours in the gym and so far they work well. They stay in my ears and if they are seated properly then they block out most of the background noise.
I had no issues with sweat or water damaging the earbuds. With IPX7 rating I have no trouble believing these will not allow water and sweat to damage the earbuds.
Final Thoughts
This is the first positive experience with true wireless earbuds. My last set at this price point from another brand were junk. I was afraid that I would have to pay about a $100 bucks for a good pair. But after getting my hands on the TaoTronics SoundLiberty 53 Wireless Earbuds I believe you can get a pair of true wireless earbuds for less than $50!
The sound isn’t perfect. Don’t try and compare these to premium wireless earbuds. They won’t compete. But they still sound good. The base could be a little better.
The only issues I have with the earbuds is the touch controls and not being able to use the phone features of the earbuds.
The touch control buttons are weird. They don’t always work and whenever I need to make an adjustment to one of the earbuds they might pause the audio. When I follow the instructions to forward or reverse the tracks the controls don’t always work for me. So I rarely use the controls and control my music from the phone.
As to talking on the phone using the earbuds may be an issue with my beard (I mentioned this early). I plan on having the barber trim down the sides. Maybe this will help with voice quality.
Because of these issues, I give the TaoTronics SoundLiberty 53 Wireless Earbuds four out of five stars. Personally, these issues are minor and won’t cause me to choose another pair of earbuds.
