Soundcore Liberty Air True Wireless Earbuds – The Review

Soundcore Liberty Air True Wireless Earbuds

I’ve been using the Soundcore Liberty Air True Wireless Earbuds for over a  month now and I like them. They sound good, the case is small enough that it doesn’t take up to much space in my pocket, and its easy to grab the ear buds from the case or put them away without looking at them. I highly recommend getting a pair of these if you need an a pair of true wireless ear buds and want to pay less than $100 for them.

First Impressions

The earbuds come in the standard blue and white box with a picture of the earbuds and the features on the back. Once opened I found the earbuds nicely displayed but in a way they would be safe if the boxed was bumped and tossed around during shipping or while on display at the store.

After looking over everything I found the case and earbuds to be made of matte black plastic (also available in white). Both the case and earbuds are light weight but have the feel that they are made well.

The Fit

Soundcore Liberty Air True Wireless Earbuds

As with other Soundcore earbud products, they come with several different ear pads to try. I found the factory installed one to be the wrong size. After trial several different sets I found ones that fit well and feel good. It did take about 30 minutes to figure that out and about a day of use to decide I like the fit. Now I can where them for several hours without them hurting or falling out.

Day-to-day activities they did not fall out if I they were put in the ears correctly. If they were fully seated in the ear they might fall out if I brushed them against something. At the gym they stayed in most of the time. They stayed on while holding a fast pace on the treadmill/elliptical, deadlifts, squats tire flipping, and farmers walks. They fell off several times when I leaned over to pick some weights. There were several pieces of equipment that extended out around my neck and if I brushed the padding against the ear buds they fell out. I think they fell out 3 or 4 times. When they fell out I knew it and was able to find them.

Charging

Charging is interesting with these earbuds. I found that if you let the earbuds run out of charge and the case also runs out as well only the case will charge. Once the case was charged I had to unplug the case and pull out the earbuds and put them back in the case. Once the case started charging (about an hour) the earbuds were fully charged and I was able to put the case back on the charger to top off the charge.

During my charge tests I found the 5 hours of playback and 20 hours of extra charge is about right. I got about 10 days (using 1 to 3 hours a day) of use from a full charge.

Charging the case and the earbuds is fast. I found it only took a couple of hours to get a complete charge and less than an hour to charge a fully drained pair of earbuds.

Sound Quality

Soundcore Liberty Air True Wireless Earbuds

The sound quality is good across most genres. Its not perfect but a lot better than most earbuds I’ve tested in the past. I loaded up my play listen for several hours and the sound quality only got better. Over the last few weeks I’ve listen to rock, rap, pop, metal, country, southern rock, blues, bluegrass and outlaw country music and at the time of reviewing this product its all sounds good. The mids and highs are where they should be but the base is there but lacking. Better than some earbuds in this price range.

Audio Books sound good as well. I haven’t any issues with voices sounding mechanical or popping/clicking noise as the narrator talks.

Watching videos are good. I would prefer my over-the-ears, but these works in a pinch. The voices and other sounds sync up correctly. But once again the base is lacking. If watching comedies or sports, it may not be an issue.

Tips and Tricks

Soundcore Liberty Air True Wireless Earbuds

Find the right ear pads is key to getting the best sound. If you have the wrong size they will not fit right. Outside noise will be heard easier, sound quality will be lacking, they will fall out easily, and they will be uncomfortable over time.

Battery life could be better, always keep track of the case status lights. When they get to one or two dots, charge the case. This way you always have a charge to the earbuds.

If you use Spotify, you may get the auto pause every 20 or 30 seconds (doesn’t happen that often but it happens with Bluetooth earbuds), close all your background apps. If that doesn’t work, force close apps and restart your phone.

Final Thoughts

Soundcore Liberty Air True Wireless Earbuds

As I mentioned before, the Soundcore Liberty Air True Wireless Earbuds are currently my favorites. For now I am happy with these and will continue to use them. At some point I will upgrade to the newer version. Even after I upgrade these will be a back up pair that I keep in the gym bag or travel bag.

If you are in the market for a pair of true wireless earbuds and want to keep the price to around $80 or less these are a great option and I highly recommend them. If you want to spend a little more get the Soundcore Liberty Air 2. These just released a few months ago and other reviewers are recommending them.
