Last summer I was doing some maintenance and cleanup in the hot water heater. During the cleanup, I notice severe rusting around the bottom of the tank with signs of slow leakage in the catch pan. At the time, we weren’t ready to replace the tank. Our plumber said we had some time left but needed to plan on replacing the tank asap. He recommended getting leak detectors After some research I decided on the GoveeLife Water Leak Detector 2. Below is my real-life review.

GoveeLife Water Leak Detector 2 – First Impressions

Smart Leak Detectors

The set comes nicely packed with easy-to-read instructions. The packaging looks nice and holds the items in the box, so they won’t get damaged. Everything is made from plastic. On the sensors the moisture sensors are metal and there is a button that can test the alarm, or it can stop the alarm once it’s activated. It is also used to complete the pairing process.

The app is also nice. The app will work with other GoveeLife products. For the detectors, connect to the gateway and the gateway then connects to your network. You will be able to monitor your home from anywhere you have internet access. If you have smart controls for the water main, you can shut off the water before your house is severely flooded.

Once paired, it should say add Sub-Device: When the sub-device is pairing short press the pairing button. After it’s paired you will be able to set the name. Then the connection will tell you the connection is successful.

After the first child-device is connected then you will be able to add the rest of them.

GoveeLife Water Leak Detector 2 – The Review

moister sensors on the GoveeLife Water Leak Detector 2

Overall, I’m impressed with everything from installation to placement. I need a couple more sensors to cover all the wet zones in the house but so far so good. I haven’t tested the actual distance, but I do know It still has full strength at 50 feet going through two sets of walls and a row of appliances.

As to sensing moisture. It’s sensitive. I had wet hands and picked one up and the sensors sensed moisture and set it off.

The alarm went off and sent notifications to the phone. You can either stop the alarm from your phone or the sensor.

Battery life seems to be good. I’ve had them since November, and they all show full charge. Once the battery gets, just change them out.

Final Thoughts

GoveeLife Water Leak Detector 2

So far I’m impressed with the GoveeLife Water Leak Detector 2. It’s easy to use and from what I can tell accurate and reliable. I haven’t had any leaks or spilled water near a sensor. Once I know more, I will update the review. When I get more sensors, I plan to add a walk-through with the app.

I’ve researched GoveeLife and read a lot of reviews on their products. I plan to invest in a few of their products and share my experience.
