Recently I’ve started using my Kit Lens for my Sony a6000 again. I’m finding it to be a lot more useful than my prime lenses. Eventually I will pick up a better lens. But for now I will have to make due with this little lens. Overall its a great lens and does what I need it to do. What I don’t like is that it doesn’t come with a lens hood. When I first started using the lens I found that my images were blown out or washed out because there wasn’t a lens for it. After some research I came across the JJC LH-S1650 Metal Lens Shade for Sony E PZ 16-50mm. I’ve been using this lens for a few months and I have to say I love it.

The Review

JJC LH-S1650 Metal Lens Hood Shade for Sony E PZ 16-50mm

After removing the lens hood from the packaging I found the hood to be made well. No scratches, nicks, and the threads looked good.

Next I pulled out my old Sony Nex-3n camera since it has the same lens as my Sony a6000. I attached the lens with ease. It took a few minutes to line up the threads but that issue was mostly because I’m not use to attaching hoods and filters to the kit lens.

Next I took some test shots throughout the range of 16mm to 50mm and did not have any issues. I did not see any vignetting during those tests.

Over the next few months I used this lens hood for low light work inside work, out door light in bright sunlight at different angles, low light out door shots, and I used the lens to shoot fire works.

For almost all test the lens helped. For some reason, one of the shots showed a little vignetting. I haven’t not be able to replicate it or have it happen by accident.
