The Eufy BodySense Smart Scale is more than your basic scale. In addition to taking your weight, it can also check your FAT/BMI/Fitness Body Composition. To help keep track of of all these details the scale can also wirelessly connect to your mobile device via Bluetooth.
Eufy BodySense Smart Scale – Features

Eufy BodySense Smart Scale – The Review
Back in January 2018 Eufy sent me the Eufy BodySense Smart Scale for winning one of their community contests. So soon as it came it, I started using it. After months of using it I have to say its an accurate scale and worth looking at if you are wanting to get a smart scale.
Connection to a Smart Phone
Connecting to my Android phone was easy. All you need is the Eufylife app installed and running and it will connect for you.
To connect, turn on your Bluetooth on your phone and make sure its searching for devices. Open the EufyLife app. Then tap the surface of the scale. Follow the onscreen instructions. Note: EufyLife is compatible with devices running iOS 8.0+ and Android 4.3+ – Taken from the Amazon Sales page
Next take off your shoes and step onto the scale. Make sure your feet on each side of the metal circle and stand still. Note: Stand with your feet to the left and right of the metallic circle. Do not stand on the center of the scale. – Taken from the Amazon Sales page

The Review
After connecting the app I was able to read my stats and for the most part I found them to be accurate. I compared the scale results to my older scale. Its an old digital scale that measures weight, body fat, BMI and few other things. When comparing the results I found them to be almost dead on. Weight was the same but the other results were one or 2 points off.
I had a wellness check a few months back and right before leaving for the doctor’s office I stepped on the scale. At the appointment the doctor ran those same tests and found them to be accurate enough for home use. I can’t remember the details but it was only a few points off.
Using the Scale
Using the Eufy BodySense Smart Scale is simple. Make sure your app is open and you have your scale selected. Once you have that setup, step on the scale. Your scale will then pair with the app and you should see the results pop up on the app. On the scale the weight will scroll through the numbers several times then find the correct weight and blink a few times. Once the weight stops blinking, you’re finished. This process take less than a minute.
Using the App
The app works with Android and iOS devices. Once downloaded, you will need to create an account. Setup your profile and add your stats. If you do not add the stats the system can not give you accurate readings.
Using Android EufyLife Health App
I had no issues connecting my LG G4 to the scale. It connected in less than a minute and connects each time in less than minute.
To add your scale to the app. Hit the plus button in the top right corner, select smart scale and step on your scale to start the pairing process. Once connected it may ask you select a location as to where to the scale located in your home.
If you want to add family members to your account, then click on the Me option and then click the add family member. Once selected add that person’s details.
Using this option, you will have to select which person is on the scale. By default its the one that created the account. This means that if you want to track your family members’ progress you will need to have your phone available for them to use.
Using iOS EufyLife Health App
I tried connecting my old iPad Generation 2 running iOS 9+ and it would not connect to the scale. For some reason the iPad errored out with a message saying turn Bluetooth on the device. I turned Bluetooth off on the iPad and pulled the batteries on the scale. Still had no luck. This is an older iPad so their may be an issue with the iPad.
Next I tried connected with my Wife’s iPhone 6 Plus running iOS 11+. It easily and paired without issues.
As to setting up accounts and pairing a scale to IOS App works the same as the Android app.
Battery Life
If you’re worried about the battery life. Don’t be. I still have the same batteries in there that came with the unit. That’s six months of use.
Tips For a Successful Reading
These are tricks I found that worked best in our household.
- Only use the scale on hard level floors. If the floors aren’t level it won’t read anything.
- Always use the scale barefooted. If your feet are covered it can read all your stats.
- Keep your scale out of high foot traffic/away from pets. Glass it could break
- Wear as little clothing as possible. Your clothes have weight – less accurate.
- Have the app open and ready to go before stepping on the scale
- Consult your doctors and show them the results.
- Compare results with your doctors. If your scale is to far off contact support.
Final Thoughts
Overall I like everything about the Eufy BodySense Smart Scale. It looks good and the glass surface makes it easy to clean. But…the glass smudges easily and shows dirt/dust. I don’t mind the smudges that much and I dust or use a damp cloth to wipe down the scale whenever I clean up the bathroom.
As to the app, its ok. The results are displayed in a way that it looks good and its easy to read. I noticed there is not an option to logout or switch users. I would like to be able to log out when not in use. Some people may not want to give easy access to their health stats.
Another minor issue I have is Eufy created a separate health app when they already have an app for their other products. Currently they only have one health device and a blood pressure cuff that is no longer available for purchase. Even if they plan to add more devices to their health devices, I think they need to combine the apps into once app. Just separate the devices by category.
Finally, the scale only syncs with Google Fit and Apple Health. The scale needs more health and fitness app options to share data with. It needs to sync in both directions to apps such as MyFitnessPal (and other UA Fitness apps), Samsung Health, FitBit, and a few other apps I can’t think of right now.
Those issues are very minor and would not stop me from purchasing another scale if I needed to replace mine.
