Why It Might Be Useful in the Business World?
No products found.
It’s a growing concern for companies to keep sensitive customer and employee data secure. Companies may have a great system in place for the digital storage of the information and even a secure shred service to deal with the paper documents. Shredding services are great in theory but not everyone in the office will follow the policy. This could because think they information isn’t valuable to bad characters, they forget they have sensitive data in a paper notebook, or they are lazy and don’t want to get up and take the paperwork over to the shredder/shredding service lock box.
One day at work one of my mentors mentioned that instead of taking notes while working with customers and then at the end of the day taking over the notes to the shredder, I should get a Boogie Board Reusable Writing Pad. With the pad, I can now delete it with a simple press of a button after each customer. Not only do not have to worry about dealing with the shredding process, but I can also conserve paper usage. Now I only use posted notes for non-essential memory tasks that are safe to post at my desk.
Real Life Review of the Boogie Board Reusable Writing Pad
I purchased one and have been using the pad for about a month and love it. The only issue I have with it, it’s a little small for my needs. But for an extra dollar you can buy the larger fancier one. But the basic model I have here for the review will work for most users.
First Impressions
The tablet comes in simple packaging and has protective film over the screen. Peel that away and you can start using the device. Holding it in my hands and it feels a little cheap in my hands. But it’s incredibly light and easy to hold in one hand and write notes with the other hand. Apparently, these writing pads have been out for years.
Using the Writing Tablet
The stylus is light weight and not a fine point. It creates a thicker font than most pens font. If you don’t like the included stylus, get one that works best for you. To help you keep track of the stylus, it comes with a handy clip. I do find the clip creates a wobbly effect and I have to remove the clip when using the tablet.
Writing is easy and smooth. The only downside is you can’t delete a letter or a line of written text. You will need scratch it out and then erase the screen when finished.
To erase the notes, simply press the button at the top of the writing pad and it instantly removes the notes from the screen.
How Long Does the Battery Last and Is It Replaceable?
According to reviews it lasts a “LONG Time” then others have said it doesn’t last that long. My guess it’s based on how much you use it. In my case if I get a year out before the battery dies or I break it in my gear bag I’ll be happy. They aren’t that expensive.
Officially the battery can’t be changed. But there are videos online that say you can even walk you through it. But not that easy. For the amount of work, time and adding the cost of the watch battery it’s just cheaper to buy a new one.
Final thoughts
It’s a great product for taking quick notes, for quick reminder notes to add to you, ongoing list of projects, calendar updates while on the phone, and just as simple doodle board to keep you from getting board. Just keep in mind, it won’t save your notes and you can easily erase the data and the battery may die at some point. I’ve heard several people online have had their Boogie Board for years before it had to replace it. Make sure to check it out on Amazon.
