Aukey PB-Y14 20000 mAh Power Bank with USB-C & Lightning Inputs – Reviews

Aukey PB-Y14 20000 mAh Power Bank

Just over a week ago Aukey sent me a sample of the PB-Y14 2000 mAh Power Band with USB-C & Lightning Inputs for testing and share my unbiased review of the power bank. In less than a week this charger has saved me from having a dead phone several times and was even used when I was waiting at the air port for my flight and I only 20% charge left by the time I got to the air port gate.

First Impressions and Unboxing

Aukey PB-Y14 20000 mAh Power Bank

The Aukey PB-Y14 20000 mAh Power Bank with USB-C & Lightning Inputs comes in their standard brown cardboard box with a picture of the power bank on the front. The product is secured in the box so its protected and won’t be damaged turning transport.

After pulling the PB-Y14 20000 mAh Power Bank from the box I found the device comes in a nice matte blackish grey plastic body that is about as big as my Galaxy Note 8 and about as thick as it. Surprisingly its light weight.  The power bank looks and feels like it will last.

Charging the Aukey PB-Y14 20000 mAh Power Bank with USB-C & Lightning Inputs

Aukey PB-Y14 20000 mAh Power Bank

The Power bank comes about 75% charged. For the first charge it took about an hour to completely charge it. Because of its extreme size you will need a high speed wall charger to fast charge the power from from empty to full. It will stake a few hours to charge. For my charging tests I used a Anker Power Port II and it was plenty fast. You can upgrade to a premium USB-C charging cable but the supplied cable is a nice OEM option that will work for charging your power bank and devices.

Charging Mobile Devices

For Testing I used a Samsung Galaxy Note 8, old Apple iPad 2, and various micro-USB headphones to test charging features of the power bank.

When charging the Note 8 Mostly used the supplied USB-C to USB cable. I found that on almost every occasion it charged my phone from 20% to 100% in about 1 hour and 35 minutes or less. from 5% to full generally took about 1 hour and 45 minutes. Compared other slower chargers times were generally over 2 hours.

Aukey PB-Y14 20000 mAh Power Bank

The Aukey PB-Y14 20000 mAh Power Bank has USB-C to USB-C to take advantage of faster charging you will need a USB-C to USB-C cable. I found charging times with USB-C to be faster

I found that I can get anywhere between 5 to 7charges (when the phone is at 20% to 100%)B0759TDR3H

Since my iPad is so old it doesn’t have the option for high speed charge. I found even with the slow 30 pin cable the charge times were slightly faster.

I can charge my iPad several times before the power bank is depleted.

Charging Multiple Devices at the Same Time

When charging my iPad and my Note 8 at the same I found it only  slowed charge by about 10 minutes.

Final Thoughts

The Aukey PB-Y14 20000 mAh Power Bank with USB-C & Lightning Inputs is a great option for those that want a fast large multi port power bank that is light weight and reliable. For the last few years I’ve been using a larger 20000 mAh power bank and a 16000 mAh power bank Both power banks are about the same physical size and have a metal outer shell that weigh more than Aukey’s power bank. They are noticeably heavier in my back pocket. The Aukey power bank feels like I have another large phone in my pocket.

I do find that the Aukey power bank is so wide it can be difficult to hold both the phone and the power bank in the same hand while talking on the phone. If I use a longer cable the size isn’t a big deal. I normally let the power bank sit on the desk or hold it in my other hand.

After testing the Aukey PB-Y14 20000 mAh Power Bank with USB-C & Lightning Inputs I am impressed with the build quality, the features, and how fast the power bank charges my devices. This is a great device and I recommend this power bank for those that need a light weight large capacity power bank.
