The Review

When I first started work for my new job, they are giving out the Poly Blackwire 3220 Wired Headset. From what I understand they use hand higher quality headset some even had wireless headsets) but over the last few years they stopped using those products in favor of these. One of the completes users have with those is the person on the other side of the call can hear everything in the background. This could be other conversations or just loud noises. Recently they started handing out the Poly Blackwire 5220 Wired Headset to help block out the background. calls.

First Impressions

cheap fabric case

It comes in a cheap brown box in a fabric zipper case that offer no protection for your headset. This could be an issue if you carry the headset back and forth from work and home.

Poly Blackwire 5220 Wired Headset comes with USB-A and USB-C options

The headset is mostly black with a red cable with a black hand control box to control the mute features. The cable offers separates into two parts. one section is USB-C with the option to use a USB-A option.at the other end has a headphone jack. That plugs into the microphone mute controls and is wired into the headset. If you disconnect the cables you need to make sure to plug in and match up the ports. If you plug in wrong, it won’t fully connect.

Volume Control jaclk

The microphone connects to one of the earphones and has the option to flip the mic up or down. When it’s completely flipped up it goes into mute.

The memory foam covers the entire headphone pads and sits flat across the ears. after a few hours my hears get hot. They do not hurt even after eight hours of having them on.

Sound Quality and Talk

Poly Blackwire 5220 Wired Headset Mic

For talking to people, they sound good, and I have no issue with quality or hearing the other person. So far, no one has complained about hearing noises in the background, and they can hear me even when I had laryngitis and was speaking so quietly, I could barely hear myself talking.

Listening to Music/Movies

These aren’t designed for this. I wouldn’t use them unless you do not have another option. They are just ok.

Final Thoughts

For what these are Poly Blackwire 5220 Wired Headset work. I don’t know how well they will work in a loud environment. I’ve several people using them in a noisy area of the office and I could hear others talking. As to comfort levels they are ok, and I can wear them all day. At some point I plan on buying a better pair for myself. To protect the headset, I will probably get a hardcase, so they won’t break on me when I really need them.
