The more that I work on the images from the Pistons and Paint Car Show the more I can’t wait for next year’s show. Here are some more pictures from the car show that I recently processed and I thought I’d share another set of pictures from the 2019 Pistons and Paint Car Show. These pictures include images of old rat rods, kustoms, and other vintage cars I found at the show.

The Pistons and Paint Car Show’s first car show was started in 2001 in Garland, Texas at a chrome shop. The show was hosted and is still hosted by the Chupacabra’s Car Club. The car show had 38 cars. Today over a 100 (I don’t have the total numbers) cars showed up.

From at least since 2014 (once again, not sure when the show moved) the car show has been hosted at the North Texas Fair Grounds in Denton, Texas. The show is a paid event for both car owner registration and spectators. As of this year, the cost for spectators is “$10 per person, children age 10 and under are free. NOTE: Each registered car gets (2) wristbands. All other passengers must pay $10 admission.” – Pistons and Car Show. And the gates open at 8:00 am and closes at 6:00 PM.

he only cars allowed are American Hot Rods & Customs that were built from 1972 and older. You will find hot rods, rat rods, custom bikes, and other vehicles at this show.

As I mentioned in my previous article, this show was the first time I got the chance to attend and I plan to hit the show earlier in the day to get better lighting.

Other than my timing, the show was great. A lot of great cars at the 2019 Pistons and Paint Car Show. Many of the cars and owners I’ve recognized from other events. So got to spend a few minutes talking with them.

About the images

The images were shot during bright sunlight but late in the afternoon. But due the sun angle I had to do a lot of editing. I used my Sony a6000 and my Sony SELP18105G E PZ 18-105mm F4 G OSS with a UV Filter by hand or using my SunPak 6700m Monopod. I then edited the images with Adobe Lightroom CC and Topaz Labs Denoise AI and Topaz Labs Sharpen AI and DXO NIK Collection to clean up the image, remove noise, and recover the lost details.
