Soundcore Life P2 – The Review

I received the Soundcore Life P2 from Soundcore from the Soundcore Community / Anker Community program called We Love Testing. First Impressions

Soundcore Life P2 True Wireless Earbuds

The Soundcore Life P2 True Wireless Earbuds comes in their new standard blue and lite blue box with pictures of the earbuds. Everything inside is secured and displayed in a way that as you open the box you get to see the case. Sadly, Soundcore opted to stop using their more eco friendly cardboard products and use plastic shell system. In my opinion it looks cheap.

Soundcore Life P2 True Wireless Earbuds

Once I pulled everything out and looked them over I found the case to be of a matte black plastic material and larger than my Soundcore Liberty Case. The case is a little bigger than other true wireless cases I’ve seen on the market. Its also a lot more uncomfortable to carry in my pocket. But cases this large are needed to store a lot of power. To get all that power, you need a bigger battery! Earbuds are also made of matte black plastic. These are light weight but have the feel that they are rugged enough that they should last even in the worst environments.

I do find it difficult to one hand open and pull the buds from the case. The magnets are strong and at times its difficult to get my fingers underneath the buds to pick them up.

The Fit

Soundcore Life P2 True Wireless Earbuds

The Soundcore Life P2 True Wireless Earbuds come with a handful of different sizes and shapes earpads. To get the best the sound quality, you need to find the right fit. Once you have the right fit, insert the earbuds in with the microphone facing the lower jaw. Once in place, twist the earbuds towards your mouth. This will ensure the best sound and clarity when making sounds.  After testing Soundcore’s suggestion, I found that the earbuds fit better, sound quality is better, and my voice is was clearer (I never got complaints)

Connectivity

Connecting is easy. I pulled both earbuds out and put them in my ears. Then I opened connections and found the Soundcore Life P2 True Wireless Earbuds and connected. Once connected I received the connected announcement for both earbuds. Each time I pull the earbuds out they connected instantly. I start with the right one and it connects and makes an announcement. Then I pull the left one out and it connects and announces connection.

The connection is strong. I rarely had issues with Bluetooth interference from nearby devices. During distance tests I was able to go more than 30 feet inside when the signal was passing through walls and outside over a 100 feet.

Battery Life

Soundcore Life P2 True Wireless Earbuds

The Soundcore Life P2 True Wireless Earbuds has a max of 7 hours of play back and the case gives the earbuds an additional 40 hours to the earbuds! Mine came fully charged. I did use them for about 2 hours and through them on the chargers to see how they do. They charge quickly. But, since these have so much of charge time I can fully test the charge time. So far I have about 20 hours of use out of them and the earbuds charge every time I put them in the case.

I still need to test the empty earbuds charge for 10 minutes and get an hour of playback and how long it takes to charge the case from zero to full charge.

The manual isn’t very helpful. But from what I can tell status lights on the earbuds are steady white when active. Then turns red for a second when powering off. The white light turns off when the earbuds hit 10% charge. As to the case. the white light is steady while charging, and off when fully charged. However, my earbuds lights turn off after connecting and turn back on to white when charging. If the earbuds are paired but not doing anything they flash white every few seconds. The case is off until its charging. I’m still testing this feature.

Soundcore finally did away Micro-USB ports and moved to USB-C connection for charging.

Controls

Soundcore Life P2 True Wireless Earbuds

I love the controls on the Soundcore Life P2 True Wireless Earbuds! They removed touch screen like controls and brought back push button controls on the earbuds. Touch control are easy to activate and use. It so easy brushing them against something might change your settings. The push button controls work the same way as touch control you just have to push the center of the earbuds to control, forward/reverse tracks, volume controls, phone calls, and activating Google Assistant. They work well, I do find I have to push hard enough on the center of the earbud and sometimes they presses hard against my ear canal.

Sound Quality

Soundcore Life P2 True Wireless Earbuds

I find that many True Wireless Earbuds and wireless earbuds have issues with sound quality. There simply isn’t enough room to get a big enough driver in there produce the quality sound one might expect to get from an over-the-ear system. What I found with the Soundcore Life P2 True Wireless Earbuds this isn’t the case. They use a new technology ,Graphene Drivers, to get the quality sound that we want from a pair of earbuds. Unlike the Soundcore Liberty Air True Wireless Earbuds, Soundcore has found a way to enhance the sound even more. Don’t get me wrong, In my opinion the Liberty Airs have great sound, but they are an older model and Soundcore found a way to make the sound better.

The sound quality is good across most genres. Its not perfect but a lot better than most earbuds I’ve tested in the past. I loaded up my play listen for several hours and the sound quality only got better. Over the last week I’ve listen to rock, rap, pop, metal, country, southern rock, blues, bluegrass and outlaw country music and at the time of reviewing this product it all sounds good. The mids and highs are where they should be and the bass sounds good and a lot better than a lot of the earbuds in this price range that I have tested.

Audio Books sound good as well. I haven’t any issues with voices sounding mechanical or popping/clicking noise as the narrator talks.

Watching videos sound good. I still prefer my over-the-ears, but these works great a pinch. The voices and other sounds sync up correctly. Even the bass sounds good while watching movies.

Environmental Tests

I used the earbuds walking around the store, while working on my computer, at the gym, and doing yard work. I can easily wear these for hours and not have an issue. When I’m walking or running they stay in just fine, but I find that these block out a lot of back ground noise, so to keep awareness to my environment I turn them down and don’t fully seat the earbuds in my ear canal.

At the gym, they do a good job at blocking out gym chatter and the junk they play on the radio. I still hear the music from their radio but its blocked out my earbuds enough or I can turn the sound up a little to get rid of it. I’ve sweated on them and they been pretty wet after a hard workout. I simply wipe them down and put them away. No issues so far.

I haven’t water tested these yet and I don’t plan on it. I trust the ratings and there are several other testers that have tested this feature. If they get wet and are damaged within the warranty period, support will take of you (if you followed their rules while using them in and near water).

Sometimes I work from a cafe or from the public library. To keep my attention on my work I use over-the-ear headphones to block out the noise. At times I don’t like wearing the headphones and prefer earbuds. I’ve done some minor testing in a fast food place and found these work great at blocking noise and I can concentrate on reading or doing work on my computer.

This isn’t really a good time to test yard work. The tractor is down for maintenance and the rest of property was prepped for winter earlier this year. I did use these while use the leaf vacuum. It does let in sound from the vacuum and I need the sound around 90% volume to hear music or audio books. My over-the-ears work better for these types of task. I will update the yard work section, if I end up using them this spring for yard work.

Final Thoughts

Soundcore Life P2 True Wireless Earbuds

Just a few weeks ago the Soundcore Liberty Airs were my favorite and primary True Wireless Ear Buds. Now its the Soundcore Life P2 True Wireless Earbuds. I carry these with me wherever I go. I use them in the gym, at home when I need to be quiet, yard work, and more.

Don’t get me wrong, the Soundcore Liberty Air is a great pair of ear buds. They sound good but in my Opinion the Life P2 sounds better and has longer battery life. Plus they are cheaper than the Liberty Airs.

The only things I don’t like about the Soundcore Life P2 are the size of the battery case, how difficult it can be to remove the earbuds from the case, and the case status LED lights need a better way of letting users know how much power the case has. These issues are NOT deal breakers. The over sized case is needed for the batteries and the difficulties with pulling the earbuds is because the magnets that hold the earbuds in place are strong. With the strong magnets, there’s no worry about the earbuds discounting from the charging ports.

If you are looking for a premium pair of true wireless earbuds for less than a hundred dollars then you need to check out the Soundcore Life P2 True Wireless Earbuds. More information can be found on the Amazon Sales Page or the Soundcore Sales Page.
